Well the transition is slowly taking place to dust off all the summer toys, while the skis/ boards are shoved deeper into the corner. Still some good spring touring to be had, and I know many are out putting on some miles in the high country with the long days. This winter has been a challenging one given the conditions and also crazy time commitments of all those involved in producing updates on SkiingGolden.com. With the arrival of the warm spring weather we checked in with Ruby for a quick update...

It was an action packed day on the mountain as Kicking Horse Mountain Resort played host to the Ski Mountaineering Canadian Championships today. With a picture perfect start to the race at the award winning Eagle’s Eye Restaurant and racers looping through the mountain top start / finish over the course of the day, the action was non-stop. The clover leaf course provided great access for spectators while utilizing all three of the mountains alpine bowls and ridge lines.

A huge thanks goes out to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped to make the event such a great success!

For those of you who didn't make it out to the festival, or for those who have been anxiously awaiting the public release of the winning video. Here it is....put together by Sean McCaig, Chris Barker and Pat Garbutt...

On Saturday March 28th Kicking Horse Mountain resort is proud to host the Dogtooth Dash Ski-mountaineering Race. The cloverleaf style course links together all of the alpine bowls and two peaks for over 4200 vertical feet of skinning and boot packing. For the slightly less ambitious we have a condensed recreational course that covers about half that vertical.

There will be a mandatory race briefing in the day lodge at 7 pm(mtn time) where racers will register and....
