Keepin' it mellow
With all the events of the past week I have been keeping pretty mellow with my snowy adventures. Did venture out for an overnight birthday hangout last week into the rockies. Brought the skis and boards, but with the combinations of crusts, heat and generally sketchyness we never applied them to snow. Did have a great time in the sunshine and even managed to remotely trigger a size 2 on a NE aspect from the ridgeline. It was pretty sweet, we were approaching the slope from the top on sleds to check out the fracture line from mid storm ( it seemed most things had run at some point during the storm last weekend) then a solid "whump" and off she went. We were about 10m back from the slope when it began to block up and slide. The crown was upto 60cms deep where it had not slid previously and then fractured across the slope and re-slid on the old bed surface at about 20-30cm deep. Awsome event to watch from a safe spot. Mellow is the name of the game right now.
