Close Call beside the Close Call
Side stepping the western ridge of the avalanche path due east of the incident a few days ago on the north side of Rudi's (see last post below), two of us felt a whoomph and heard the earth beside us groan and rumble as we remotely released a size 2.5. I reported this as a comment to the last post, but here I've added some photos. Light was flat and fading. The camera is a GoPro Hero HD - which will explain the distortion.
A dozen or so tracks were on this slope, but none had come as high as this start zone. We were staying on the ridge while we investigated whether to drop in high. Glad it went before we made that decision! This sucker was about 60m across, with a crown 40-60cm deep on a bed of large facets, and ran about 400m.
