Change is in the air. The snowpack is about to go wack(y). Kyle Hale gives us the heads up on the low down. Following that is the first weekly TC update of the season. It may also be the last.

Kyle Hale checks in with a quick update from Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Sunny skies and a bit more stable snow has been the dominant pattern in the Purcells this week. Look for a bit of a change as the high pressure is expected to break down this weekend.

Thanks to Steve Crowe for filming this segment.

Cruised up to the Horse to meet up with Ruby and Brian Morgan for some Slackcountry turns. Hiking up Terminator Peak for our first lap into Superbowl we were blasted with wind, snow and poor visibility. After one run by brail we opted to ditch our touring set-ups to take advantage of the storm and shredded some inbounds laps. While we had hoped to bring an update from the Slackcountry we had some great inbounds turns, and managed to turn on the camera for a quick update at the end of the day...

La Niña- What does it Mean?

lanina3.jpgThere is a lot of talk in the media these days about Global Warming and the changes taking place in the earth's atmosphere. In the midst of all this debate the terms La Niña and El Niño continue to surface in predictions about our seasonal weather forecasts. This coming season the experts have predicted that we are back into a La Niña pattern. So what exactly does this mean, and better yet how much snow can we anticipate? Here is a link to a brief article I came across that summarizes these two weather events nicely.... http://howesound.wordpress.com/2007/10/04/la-nina-vs-el-nino-how-much-snow-this-season/
