Loop Brook Drainage

The Loop Brook Drainage is accessed from a small parking lot 5 minutes west of the summit of the Pass. As of 2007, you needed a permit to park in the lot. And unless there’s at least a metre of snow at the highway, the creek at the valley bottom is virtually impassable.

After about 3 kms of skinning underneath large avalanche paths alongside the creek, the trail will steepen into a feature called the Elephant’s Trunk. Some people like to bootpack up this thing, but if everyone just sacks up and sends it, a nice trail will eventually emerge.

After gaining about 300 feet, you are presented with a choice. You can either trend climber’s left and access the Lily Glacier or trend climber’s right towards the Bonney Neve.
